Journal Entry #1: There has been a dramatic change all around me and my family for past few months. In the beginning of July, I remember hearing from my neighbors and my husband talking about the issue of revolution. That was when I first realized how this situation was getting serious and worse. All of my neighbors started to express their anger about how the third estates had to pay all the taxes for the country while working for nobles and clergies on top of struggling through a terrible famine. All the crops failed and we harvested nothing. It was a very hard time for our family since we had to feed our livestocks such as chicken and goats. The wages stayed the same while the cost of grains increased. My husband’s wage stayed the same for about three years which was enough for daily food source and little bit of goodies for ourselves. However since we were paying taxes which is more than half of our income made our family struggle in finance issues which we have never faced before. While I was having a hard time, few months ago one customer called Cécile Croisseux visited my store. Since I like to make new friends, I asked her few question about herself. Cécile, as a dancer she travels through Paris and get on small stages and get small amount of money. While having a discussion about ourselves, we sudden changed our discussion topic to the Bastilles. I started to tell her when how I remember the day when the Bastilles was demolished by all citizens. I was at the market place just like everyday. As we had a deep talk, we both decided to join the crowd and show our strong dislike to the King. That is when one woman started to spread a rumor that Maria Antoinette is owning her own grain cage privately inside the palace. As soon as everyone got that statement in their ears, all females started to look for the secret grain cage. And now, as I can remember all these events happened clearly, and also know that the rumor was a true story, I proposed Cécile discover where the grains actually is placed and got an answer saying yes.
Journal Entry #2: I had no chance at all to meet my husband for a while. Since, I was eager to see my husband today, I went to the tennis court where National Assembly was happening. Also, I really wanted to see how it looks and be part of the angry third estate. I was so prepared and ready to express how I am mad that I can’t even see my own husband for about a week and how I am frustrated by unable to have human right. Which had most influence in financial problem; paying taxes. I went into the court alone, and as soon as I opened the door and entered the room, all people were yelling toward the front of the room where I couldn’t see who was standing under the spotlight. While I was totally lost and couldn’t find where my husband was belonging, I stood in a random place. I still had no idea what was going on, so I asked a gorgeous looking woman standing right next to me who’s name was Adel Harriette. She was so nice to me and explained every single situation happening and all single detailes since my only attention was to the Bastilles and my husband. Soon I got into the situation and started to support the people by adding in my voice into the crowds. After spending few hours there, I soon became exhausted. I had no energy just until met my husband by chance. I ran towards him and tried to give a big hug; but I couldn't. Even though I could not give a hug to my husband, I still felt very excited only by having a chance to see my husband. After having a short chat time with him, it was time to go back to work, or actually to my family.
Journal Entry #3: Due to the execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the old French government was finally destroyed. Just by these two people leaving the government, we citizens (this is what we call ourselves these days) had a small hope that now we do not have to experience famine any more and that the war is going to end in a few days. However, for me I was still kind of worried, not for the government at this moment but for my husband who is out at the war now. The war was against Australia and Italy, Napoleon was basically in charge of it. I feel kind of bad for my husband who was required to join the war. Since Napoleon was famous for his roles because what he did was such heroic, I hoped that he would end the wars soon and bring peace to this country. After the wars have ended, everyone considered Napoleon as the hero since he protected us. So as a result majority of citizens like me supported him as a new leader in our chaotic yet, brand-new government. I had an optimistic perspective about the new government and I thought that Napoleon should become the new leader for our "Republic", until I met a women called Cosette Blanc who used to take car of Louis XVI’s horse. When she first stepped into my store, I gave her a smile as usual and she introduced herself to me. We soon started to talk about Napoleon, who seemed like a decent candidate to run the country. While having a conversation about how we feel so confident and hopeful. However, as we continued, we started to realize some differences, or maybe similarities compared to the times where Louis XVI ruled France. We soon found out that it wasn’t the citizens who made him to be at that place, it was himself who made him have the dictatorship. He started to control everything and have many power which we wasn’t expecting. It ended up with Cout d’Etat.
